Once Upon a Read-a-Thon: Final

Okay Dokey, my eyes are literally burning!!  I’ve finished Seers of Light a couple of hours ago (read over the read-a-thon finishing line as I had to work today).

Again, I’ve had so much fun with these readathons but I think it’s time for a bit of a break although…  I’m so behind with my Anna Karenina read along 😦 and after these great reads, I’m not sure if I can handle diving back in there.  *Courage, man! Courage!*

Moving right along, final challenge I’ve chosen for today is hosted at The Reader Bee:

My most anticipated 2012 Release is…  *Drum Rolls*

Stormdancer (The Lotus War #1) by Jay Kristoff

G’Night, peeps! I’m gonna need some eye drops and a dose of Vitamin Zzzzzzz…

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon: Day 2

Yay! I’m happy to say I’ve finished Kings & Queens by Courtney Vail and have started the next book: Seers of Light by Jennifer DeLucy.

The day hasn’t been without interruption – life has its own curve ball! So, I haven’t read as much as I would like BUT…  I’m pretty happy with my progress so far.  I’m not sure how much farther I can go though as I’m really feeling the lack of sleep & too much reading (sore eyes!) so I may have to hit the sack a little earlier tonight as I’d have to work tomorrow (sad face).

Again, I’ve opted to only join in 1 of the Mini Challenge

Brought to you by Stiletto Storytime

Below in the comments simply share a foreign author whose work you adore. I personally am from the United States but we may have readers from all over so just make sure the author you share is from a country other than your own. Tell us why you like them. Are there any books by them in particular that you would recommend? How did you come across their work? The whole point is to share and allow us all to discover a new author that we might otherwise never have been exposed to..to literally open up a whole new world of books for one another.

Oh, gosh!  Where do I start?  Firstly, I’m in Australia so about 90% of books I read are by ‘foreign’ authors!  I’m going to limit myself to translated works (ie. books I read in English but was originally written in another language).  I’d have to say Carlos Ruiz Zafón.  I just love The Shadow of the Wind – a haunting story of a priceless treasure (book!).  He totally brought another world to my doorstep.  I would love to go to Spain one day 🙂

K – that’s all, folks!  I gotta get back to reading before my eyes shut down 😉 xx

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon: Day 1

Aaah… I’m glad work is done for the day!!  I think I’m doing well so far with this Read-a-Thon.

I’ve finished up the last 170 pages of Shadow of Night (Review coming right up after this update post!) and am on page 127 (of 316) of Kings and Queens.  I hope I can finish K&Q tonight and… I have the day OFF tomorrow!  Yipee!  Hopefully I can finish another book for #OUReadathon 😉

There are 2 Mini Challenges but I wanna go back to my book quickly so I’m just going to do one.

Hosted by Bailey @iBBookBlogging is the ‘cover’ challenge;

Question 1:

What is your favorite cover that has been revealed this summer and why? Post a link or picture of the cover if you want.

Is there even a Question?!?!?  Of course, it’s gotta be Stormdancer!!  Check it out, doesn’t it just blow your mind off?!?!

Question 2:

Do you rely on the cover to help you choose whether you want to read a book or not?

I was going to answer with a resounding Yes but the I read the question over and over again and realised that the answer really is No…  The cover would probably first attract my attention – begging me to pick it up, but if the blurb / reviews aren’t interesting at all, then I wouldn’t read it.  However, if the cover is very attractive and the blurb is remotely interesting, then I’d add it to my TBR.

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

Once upon a read-a-thon is hosted by Lori at Pure Imagination, Angela at Reading Angel and Candace at Candace’s Book Blog. This will be my second Read-a-Thon in a month!  I only achieved half my goal last time so let’s hope I’ll do better this time around.  I’m trying to set myself a modest goal but we’ll see, it is actually modest by whether I achieve it or not :p

As I’m participating in the Anna Karenina Read Along, I will have to fit in my read of Parts 3 & 4 which will be approximately 25% of the book (about 200 pages).

I’m also hoping to fit these 2 in:

But FIRST, I’ll have to finish off the last 170 pages of

Good Luck, everybody!  Read On! 🙂
