Random Reads (February 2015)

Thanks to i’m loving books for hosting this meme.

I was very good and read by January’s Random Read!  Check my review of Golden Lies, here

For February, I’ve drawn a Classic.  This looks like a toughie!

caleb williamsCaleb Williams by William Godwin

When honest young Caleb Williams comes to work as a secretary for Squire Falkland, he soon begins to suspect that his new master is hiding a secret. As he digs deeper into Falkland’s past and finally unearths the horrible truth, the results of his curiosity prove calamitous when—even though Caleb has loyally sworn never to disclose what he has discovered—the Squire enacts a cruel revenge. A tale of gripping suspense and psychological power, William Godwin’s novel creates a searing depiction of the intolerable persecution meted out to a good man in pursuit of justice and equality. Written to expose the political oppression and corrupt hierarchies its author saw in the world around him, Caleb Williams makes a radical call to end the tyrannical misuses of power.

This looks interesting though it’s not the genre I usually read. Thanks for dropping by my blog ♥

ah yea… I try to read some classics. I’m a couple of chapters in and struggling a bit with the pace & language. As usual, it will take some time to get used to it -it’s English but so different from today’s usage :p

Never heard of this book before. I do enjoy reading some classics too. Right now I am reading Villette by Charlotte Bronte and really enjoying. It is not as great as Jane Eyre.

I must say I don’t remember when I added it to my to-read shelf on GR -nor WHY!? lol -it must’ve been in some weird mood for the day. I was struggling and am just starting to get into the pace of it (about 30% of the book). Hoping for a good ending!
