Thanks to i’m loving books for hosting this meme.
I don’t know why when I was having a problem deciding which book to take to the beach yesterday, I didn’t do this! *smacking my head* Funnily enough, the book I decided on (which of course, is being read for a challenge) was set around that area of the beach I went to! That was unexpected but was a happy coincidence. It is an Aussie classic (it’s also been made into a movie) called Careful, He Might Hear You by Sumner Locked Elliot.
For January, it appears I’ve drawn another classic!
The Tennant of Wildfell Hall by Anne BrontëGilbert Markham is deeply intrigued by Helen Graham, a beautiful and secretive young widow who has moved into nearby Wildfell Hall with her young son. He is quick to offer Helen his friendship, but when her reclusive behavior becomes the subject of local gossip and speculation, Gilbert begins to wonder whether his trust in her has been misplaced. It is only when she allows Gilbert to read her diary that the truth is revealed and the shocking details of her past.
I remember enjoying the BBC mini series of this so I am looking forward to finally getting to read it! 🙂
