Blog Tour: Chosen -a Review + Giveaway

Book Blurb

Everything Emma Thompson owns fits in a suitcase she moves from one roach infested motel to another. She and Jake, her five year old son who can see the future, are running from the men intent on taking him. Emma will do anything to protect him even when it means accepting the help of a stranger named Will. Jake insists she needs Will, but Emma’s never needed help before. And even though she’s learned to trust her son, it doesn’t mean she trusts Will.

Mercenary Will Davenport lives in the moment. Hauling Emma to South Dakota should have been an easy job, but his employer neglected to tell him about Emma’s freaky son and the gunmen hot on her trail. Instinct tells him this job is trouble, but nothing can prepare him for Jake’s proclamation that Will is The Chosen One, who must protect Emma from the men hunting her power. A power she doesn’t know she has.

Will protects Emma and Jake on a cross-country chase from the men pursuing them, while struggling with memories from his past, his apprehension of Jake, and his growing attraction to Emma. Will’s overwhelming urge to protect Emma surprises him, especially since it has nothing to do with his paycheck and possibly everything to do with the tattoo Jake branded on his arm. Rich and powerful men are desperate to capture Emma, and Will must discover why before it’s too late.

My Blurb

I really wasn’t expecting the book to be so fast-paced!  I’m not complaining; I love it!  Emma & Jake have been on the run for years although usually they have been able to avoid being captured.  One day, as they were about to run, Will practically jumped into their car and forced his help on Emma.  Hhmm, suspicious much?  Emma did not have time to argue and when she did object, Jake insisted that she needs Will.  There are powers at play of which no one knows much of, except maybe Jake.

It was a thrilling read when things kept happening one after the other with nearly no breaks in between.  There is, of course, a bit of romance & humour to lighten the mood but the chase, shootings, overall actions kept the suspense pretty much throughout.  Close to the end, the chase kind of peter off but that’s where we find things are a lot more complicated.

Umm, seeing that it’s only book 1, I really still have no idea what’s going on – on the paranormal side of things, the secret society side of things, and I really do not have a clue where it’s going to go!  What I can tell you though, that I’m really interested.  I have really enjoyed this book, an action-packed thriller with a touch of the supernatural, and a dash of romance.

I like the sound of a ‘thrilling read’. I don’t mind things getting complicated as it’s the first in the series.

Thanks for hosting this incredible author. I came across her work unexpectedly on Amazon and immediately after reading the first one in the Chosen series I bought all of the other books that were available, to include the short stories. I highly recommend the read. It’s exciting to see the characters development throughout the books and sometimes you think they are going one direction when a curve ball is thrown leaving you with that “holly crap” expression on your face. Certain passages I wanted to read it again just to re-live that awestruck feeling. Definitely a keep! I’ve set the Chosen series on “My Favorites” shelf on goodreads.
I want to point out that the short stories are also a must read. They give insight to the background of the main characters and it makes for a deeper appreciation when it comes to the novels. along with many others I am marking X’s on my calendar waiting for “Redemption”, the 4th and book in he series.. Ahhhh Fall, why must you be so far away??

I love this genre, and it sounds really awesome. If it is just one of a series, I am really excited. If I read a great story, I hate for it to end.

I know the feeling momjane – I have to confess though that I usually lag behind after book 7 :p

I love series but I also like to have that ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ kinda feeling lol

Thank you so much for hosting me today! I thought I left a comment this morning but I don’t see it now. (My internet was kind of flaky this morning so we’ll blame it on that. LOL) I’m so glad you liked Chosen!!! I hope you enjoy Hunted!
