Around the World in 80 days by Jules Verne (3.5 stars)

This is the first time I’ve actually read this book and I am very much influenced by the movies!  I was expecting hot air balloons and kept looking for the ‘balloon ride’ part in the book.  I was very much surprised when I reached the end of the book and there was ONLY 1 mention of ‘balloon’.  It was only mentioned in passing.  Well…

I did enjoy the book. Phileas Fogg is totally & completely OCD however I like the ending where he does show that he is not completely absent of feelings wherein throughout the book he never seems to be affected by anything at all! As everyone would gather from the title & the movies, Phileas Fogg wagered that it is possible to go around the world in 80 days. Throughout his travel, he was beset by storms, dogged by a police inspector as a criminal suspect, saved an Indian woman from death, etc…  Quite exciting read!

Would love to hear your thoughts...
