The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride, 1) by James Patterson (4 stars)

I only found out this year that James Patterson wrote books other than crime fics. I was a little bit apprehensive when I picked this up and felt iffy reading the first few chapters but I got hooked with the almost continuous action & mystery surrounding the backgrounds of the flock & the Institute.

Maximum Ride, or better known as Max, is 14 and a leader of the flock.  One day, they were attacked by the Erasers and one of their numbers, Angel, was taken. In rescuing Angel, they found that nowhere is safe for them. As they don’t know anything of their background or of the Institute responsible of their genetics, they decided that finding out the truth would be the way forward. Who are they really?  Why were they created?
